Paris - Day 4

Today we had a guide, Lauren, taking us around the city, we had a great view of the Arc de Triumphe as we travelled to Versailles.

This building was besides the Musee de l'Armee...we made another stop along the way to get some pictures of the Eiffel Tower...Marissa was holding it up too, see how strong she is :)

This next structure was built to signify peace...it had the words 'peace' written in every language all over it...very interesting building and a great backdrop of the Eiffel tower too.

We arrived around the area of Versaille, where the bus is able to stop, and grabbed a quick lunch before heading into the Palace.

WE didn't eat this for lunch but I thought it was a great photo op...onion rings and potato chips inside a baguette! seriously and it was apparently quite good!

Every angle of all of these great buildings are fantastic, it's hard not to take too many photos of all the beautiful bits we see along our travels. This is the front of Versailles...we had to wait to enter with our group because there was a fire drill...it was a beautiful sunny and warm day so not a hardship to sit on a bench and wait :)

The gardens around Versailles are enormous!!! I can only imagine how much more beautiful it would look in full bloom...

The room of mirrors was stunning...the chandeliers and all the gold detailing everywhere, marble pillars and inlaid in the walls...wood floors...just beautiful and this was just one room!

Marie Antoinette's room was beautiful, very feminine and lots of fabrics around the bed, on the walls...

I took so many photos inside the palace, heard some great history from our guide and really enjoyed seeing the palace, so glad we took this optional trip there.

We left the palace after several hours and made our way back to the city for dinner and to catch the sunset while on top of the Montparnasse tower. We had a great view of all of Paris and the Eiffel Tower as well. No wait to go up and a lovely open rooftop view. Now there is quite a bit of controversy around the Montparnasse tower however as it is a very modern black, unsightly, tower smack dab in the midst of all things lovely in Paris...so the locals abhor it!

We are now all extremely tired but still have our boat tour down the Seine...it was like a can of sardines...all of the tourists lined up in seats in the boat...we had a nice little cruise and saw the city lit up.

Would have been that much better to have had a better boat where we could walk around and been in the open air but we made due with what we had.

At this point we are all falling asleep in our seats on the bus ride back to our hotel, so a good nights sleep is in order as we have to get up at 6:30am, eat breakfast and then check out of our hotel, load the bus with our stuff and we are doing the Louvre tomorrow for most of the day!
