Day Four - Road trippin

Good morning, 5:45am morning wake up call 'this is your wake up call, wake up call,  wake up!  wakeup!' says the pre-recorded message every morning.

Breakfast and on the bus by 7am...it's already 30°C so I'm thinking it'll be another hot one! We have 37 miles to get to our first destination which is to visit the Summer Palace of King Rama IV in the province Ayutthaya.

Interesting observation this morning at 8am as we drove on the freeway...everyone on foot was stopped and were singing the anthem, which was being played via speakers we could hear as we drove by.  At 8am and at 6pm EVERYDAY, they sing their anthem...Awesome!  After asking Perez, he said they've been doing this everyday for over 20 years.

So the traffic out of Bangkok wasn't too bad this morning...Perez calls it 'traffic jams'...which after the past two days is accurate. It is literally a traffic jam...you move about 1 foot a minute in the city streets...last night we went 7 miles in an hour and a half, remember?!!

So first stop today is the Bangkok Pa- In Palace...beautiful grounds covering more than 71 acres...some original buildings from the 17th century that is the Summer Palace to the Kings...residence that the current king still uses during the winter season.

You can perhaps get an idea of the area these grounds cover...

I've climbed the lookout tower, four levels of narrow spiral stairs...there is a breeze up there,  so even though I'm crazy hot, the warm breeze feels good.

It's about 32°C now and still 100% humidity ;) but luckily our coach is waiting with the air conditioning, thankfully, running full blast! Of we go now to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Wat Phra Silver Sanphet.

This is our ride to the site this morning.

A dark photo of the recreated grounds.

I have to say that I've seen some ruins around the globe...and these are in some pretty great shape...

Ruins, but spectacular to say the least...

This temple is being restored but is still open for the public...

Enjoying the breeze...it's HOT out...I'm red from the heat, not the sun...no sunburn on this girl ;)

Oh...look who's photo bombing!?!

Super Hot by noon, that's an understatement...37°C now and of course 100% humidity....so it feels HOT and I'm only 5 water bottles in by noon LOL

We are heading to our ferry now where we will have our lunch and get back to Bangkok via the river instead of our coach...

Not a bad view for lunchtime huh?

Back at the coach, this is actually the back to the future version of the Flux capacitors :) They are used to power up the electrical on the bus apparently...how fun is that ?!!

You will drive under these types of arches throughout your travels here...they are adorned with images of the current king as well as images to pay tribute to the king that just passed...

It's been a long day even though it isn't too late...up early in way hot Temperatures and humidity...I'm pooped and sticky...time to shower for dinner and pack it in...

We will have another International Buffet dinner tonight...starting to all taste the same LOL
